Year end follow-up!

I love to look back at the end of a school year and assess the winners and losers.

So what were the winners and losers around the Booshay House?

Losers-

Sorry to say, it was The Potter's School Online English course taken by Emma. The amount of diagramming was oppressive! The format of sitting at the computer for 1 1/2 hours was boring for Emma. And the papers were not graded in a timely fashion.
The materials used were good. Jane Eyre to Shakespeare's Caesar.
I liked the assigned papers and interesting grading system. I think Emma's writing improved this year. Of course I am delighted by this.
But they did recommend a dictionary (which I went out and bought) that was not used once. Bummer. Big waste of money.

Winners-
Math U See Geometry was a great success. While I am not sure it is as thourough as some other Geometry programs...it was excellent for our family. Emma was able to do her Geometry on her own with the book and DVD. The pace was perfect for her.
I recommend it if you need a general Geometry course.

Chemistry with Apoligia and a wonderful tutor. Big hit.
Challenging, educational and impressive.
We were so impressed with our tutor that Emma will take Biology with Miz Beck next fall.

The Soccer team was a blast!'
And the homeschool choir (Flame) was a blessing in many ways.
Driver's Ed. was a success :o) Considering she passed her test and can now drive!

I'll let Emma tell you what she liked best about this year including her favorite book.

For little Miss Katie Gracie...

She loves to cut and paste.
Her cutting has improved very much in a year.

She likes the books; Are you my Mother?, One Fish, Two Fish and Frog and Toad.
Gymnastics class was the highlight of her week.
She can now do a pull over on the bar!
She also loved Children's Choir at her friend Leonie's church.

And she learned how to knit.

********

How was your school year?
I'd love to hear about it!

Encourage one another,
Donna
