The breezes taste
Of apple peel.
The air is full
Of smells to feel-
Ripe fruit, old footballs,
Burning brush,
New books, erasers,
Chalk, and such.
The bee, his hive,
Well-honeyed hum,
And Mother cuts
Chrysanthemums.
Like plates washed clean
With suds, the days
Are polished with
A morning haze.

- September, John Updike

I just googled 'September poem' this morning and the first poem I came across was
Mr. Updikes, September.
I think I will call that a 'Google gift'.

I wish you a day full of little surprises and gifts!

By all these lovely tokens
September days are here,
With summer’s best of weather
And autumn’s best of cheer.

- Helen Hunt Jackson, 1830-1885

Encourage one another,
Donna
